Our History
For God. For people. For the city. For the world.
RCCG City of Light is a church in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and a parish of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), a global family of thousands of parishes. RCCG began in 1952 as a small home fellowship and grew through the faithful work of God. Its name became The Redeemed Christian Church of God following a vision given to its founder, Pa Akindayomi.
In 1980, Pastor E. A. Adeboye succeeded Pa Akindayomi as General Overseer. Since then, RCCG has grown around the world, with churches established across many nations.
City of Light began in Winnipeg at Dakota Community Centre. Our first gathering was held on August 24, as a small group of people came together with a desire to worship Jesus, grow in faith, and serve our city.
City of Light was officially inaugurated on August 29, 2026. This is a meaningful milestone as we continue to grow and serve Winnipeg under God's guidance.
From those early beginnings, God has continued to build His house. We remain a Jesus centred church, a family gathered to worship, equipped to serve, and sent to shine His light and love throughout Winnipeg and beyond.
